A person is dead following a deadly shooting in Rutland City.The Vermont State Police major crimes unit is assisting the Rutland Police Department in investigating a suspicious death that happened just after 4 p.m. on Monday.No one is in custody.Police said the shooting occurred in the area of State Street near the correctional center.Rutland City police Chief Brian Kilcullen said the department received a report of shots fired at 4:15 p.m. and responded to the area of State Street and Cleveland Avenue and found a crashed vehicle with a deceased male inside.Kilcullen said there is no danger to the public.Officials are continuing to investigate what happened.This is a developing story.
